Seller Representations and Warranties
What is the statutory right to cancel?
Federal and state laws allow buyers a 3-day "cooling off" period for certain sales,
namely sales made and solicited at the buyer's home. If the transaction falls under
one of these state or federal laws, the seller must disclose to the buyer in the
contract of its right to cancel the transaction. In addition, the seller must
provide 2 copies of a cancellation form.
Be sure to check your state's consumer protection laws to see if your transaction is
covered. For more information, see here.
